Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. – Nelson Mandela
Brittany is not only an incredible beauty, but this #classof2015 college grad is setting out to change the world and to shake things up.
This week we are featuring a very special guest, one of our most wonderful friends here at the studio! Allison has been a cheerleader for us since the studio was founded over a year ago, and as an absolute beauty inside and out it has been a delight to photograph her, her family and her friends more than once now! We loved having her in a few weeks back with her equally gorgeous and delightful friends Melissa and Angie. We wanted to share a few shots of her and the girls from their shoot – we hope you love them as much as we do!
Since Spring is around the corner and the new release of Disney’s Cinderella, I wanted to post a little blurb on princess inspired beauty with a little spring influence. A modern Princess should have the perfect scent. I don’t know if they sell a perfume that smells like woodland fairy dust or the sweet scent of house servant but here are some scents that I would recommend to any modern day princess.
Miss Dior Cherie: This scent is for the flirty chic princess that wants to make a subtle statement. This scent barely lingers so no man will forget. She smells like a sweet kiss.
Viva La Juicy: This scent is for the wild and carefree princess who may not be prim and proper but loves to spend her time outdoors and enjoys a good dose of vitamin D. This scent is for the girl who loves to put wildflowers in her hair and frolic in the wilderness.
Victoria Secret Bombshell: This perfume is for the edgy cool and collected princess. The girl who takes charge and does not take no for an answer. She is strong-willed and head strong. Her scent gives off a mood of sophistication.
If you notice with princesses in the Disney Franchise there is a very distinct look. They are very doll like and dewy. They are “wide eyed” and sometimes encompass a large portion of their face. Unfortunately most humans are not made with doll like eyes. So a subtle trick that can transform any maiden into a princess are lashes.
I tend to stick with Mink lashes since they give the most natural effect to the eyes. Mink lashes can expand and round out your eyes without looking too “fake”. I am using the word fake loosely since lashes will change your eyes dramatically but in my opinion Mink lashes will achieve doll like eyes.
I buy mine from Velour and Flutter. In this photo I chose lashes that are longer at the center of the lash than any other point, since this look will achieve rounded eyes to make your eyes appear larger and doll’like.
Another aspect of Princess beauty would have to be her “blushing beauty.” A princess always looks perfectly flushed. She is of course naturally born with an apple like tone to her cheek. However in the midst of Spring I want to share some favorite affordable blushes that are perfect for spring and give a flushed appearance similar to any princess.
These are Physicians Formula Argan Wear blushers in Natural and Rose. Instead of swatching them, I will show you a photo of me wearing the color “Rose”. As you can see it gives me a rosy toned shimmery flush. I like how it is obvious I have blush on but it looks like I am actually blushing. This is the look I believe every princess achieves and every aspiring one should aim for.
I love princess hair, even if she is running through the forest on the back of a horse or just frolicking through the fields near her castle, her hair is always put together and flawless. I have an updo here that I feel would look amazing on any princess or woman for that matter.
Hairpieces also put together a look. Hairpieces can enhance any hairdo. Preferably ones with rhinestones, pearls or flowers will do. You want to keep it simple yet elegant. You can see some amazing hair pieces at Handmadebysarakim.com
These are just a couple tips and ideas which I believe can make any woman feel like a fairy tale princess. Which feature is your favorite?

This past week we had the lovely and gorgeous Jana in our studio along with her dear friend Laura! This pair was full of endless smiles and laughter and Jana used the opportunity to take a number of gorgeous portraits for personal as well as professional use! Jana is a local realtor here in Temecula and a total sweetheart – we loved every part of working with her. Her smiles and kindness are unmistakable and shine through the lens! The shoot was a roaring success and we loved seeing her and Laura beaming at us together at the end!
Our ravishing brunette Beauty of the Week is Sarah! We loved the beautiful contrast of neutrals, professional looks in a Little Black Dress, and a feisty going-out style from her collection. All of the styles complimented her rich hair color and warm smile beautifully, culminating in a dazzling set of portraits that capture her style and cheerfulness well!
This week’s beautiful Senior Spotlight falls on the shoulders of our friend Sidney! Each of our shoots carries a unique flavor tailored to the style of our models, and high school shoots in particular are a blast because these students tend to have a distinct style and vivaciousness that’s all their own. Sidney was no exception, with elements of classic glamour, elegance, and fun in a one-of-a-kind gown of hers! We had so much fun with her and the photos show all of these distinct aspects beautifully. Let us know what you think!
Our latest Beauty of the Week was one of our first visitors to the studio, the beautiful and smiley Laura Turnbow! We loved the springy vibe of her shoot and the bright grins she kept throwing at the camera, so we decided to feature her as our lovely Valentine’s Week model! Hopefully you will love her shots as much as us!
Enjoy your Valentine’s Day Weekend, lovelies!
I get so many questions from girls who do not know how to apply eyelashes. Applying eyelashes is not always as difficult as people think! Once you know how your own eyes take to lashes it will become easy.
Step 1: You must measure the length of the lash to your own lash line. Most lash companies make their lashes very long so that they can fit every eye that purchases them. Because of this, you want to make sure the lashes will not be too long for your lash line.
If indeed the lash is too long for your lash line, you will want to trim the excess length of the false lashes. When trimming, you want to trim the part of the lash that has the longest length, since most lashes go from short to long. By cutting the longer side of the lash, you will keep the natural look of the false lash.
Step 2: Apply your adhesive. I like a strong grip from my adhesive. Therefore I like to add a thick, even layer of glue. Sometimes I go a little heavier on the ends so there is no lifting.
Step 3: Apply the lash. When I apply a lash to the eyes, I like to start from the ends inward. To make sure the lash does not over-exceed the eyes, I match the lash up from the end of the lash line into the inner corner of the eye.
Step 4: I like to brush my natural and false lashes in order to blend them together and not create a fake appearance to the lashes. We want the false lashes to look like your natural lashes!
After blending them together, I use a lash crimp to join the false lash and natural lash together.
And voila! Finished lash:

Our Beauty of the Week this time around is a bit of a throwback to dear Jeni who came in when the studio first opened! As a beautiful, fair blonde, she had a stunning shoot mixing elements of classical elegance, professionalism, and a little boho vibe! This session particularly highlighted the unique clarity of natural light featured in our studio, as few people realize that all of our shoots are lit solely by sunshine from our giant windows. This fits in with our goal of natural light and natural beauty simply highlighting the best of you! Check out her gorgeous shots below.
This past month we had this lovely senior lady come in for her very own High School Senior Fashion Shoot! Rachel is a senior graduating this year from Huntington Beach High School with her fellow Class of 2015! She posed for us in a number of gorgeous dresses from her own wardrobe, including her beautiful nude-and-black lace Winter Formal gown, and positively glowed the whole time. Talk about a beauty, inside and out!
